NYC Mayoral frontrunner pro-Bitcoin
New York City is a formidably dynamic place, with financial & business expertise that allowed it to develop some of the most prominent crypto firms (Gemini, Paxful, Chainalysis to name a few). It is also one of the first to introduce crypto-specific legislation, with it infamously strict BitLicense.
However, since other parts of the US started fighting to attract crypto companies, like Miami or the states of Wyoming and Texas, the city must make a meaningful step towards crypto to keep its advantage. And that’s exactly what the NYC Mayor Candidate Eric Adams is planning to do, promising to make it “the center of all technology”, and notably “the center of bitcoins”.
He led the Democratic primary with 31.7% support and now has real chances to win the general election in November. If he does, it will affect not only NYC, but the whole crypto world: with such a powerful city backing the crypto industry, things could escalate quickly.
