It’s increasingly difficult to see clear in the Israel-Palestine conflict. It’s too complex, and Internet companies must take big care to stay as impartial as possible.
It appears that it’s not often the case, especially in the light of the recent news of the American social payments app Venmo blocking payments to humanitarian charities in Palestine. Venmo mentioned the US anti-terrorist guidelines that it must comply with (even if the groups not mentioned in the official OFAC’s list also got caught in its filter). Venmo is owned by PayPal, which is present in 200 countries all over the world, including Israel, but except Palestine. That’s a pity for a country that, taking into account continuous difficulties, is mostly unbanked.
It’s difficult for humans to stay impartial. But for the blockchain it is not. And Bitcoin could be just the right tool to stop financial exclusion.
