Here it is. El Salvador’s Assembly passed the Bitcoin law by supermajority of votes.
It will not only reduce the dependence on the dollar and people who decide its fate, but also provide many opportunities for Salvadorans and the crypto industry in the country. Blockstream has already committed to providing satellite infrastructure to ensure the redundancy of Bitcoin and Lightning networks, Tron wants to set offices there and the crypto community discovers the many attractions of the country (great surfing & no capital tax gains on crypto among others).
More Latin American countries are now eager to follow ElSalvador’s example, notably Paraguay and Mexico, with some congressmen actively pushing crypto initiatives. If El Salvador’s strategy bears its fruit, there’s no doubt we’ll see many more countries claiming their monetary independence by acknowledging crypto. That’s truly exciting.
