Crypto games gaining speed

Blockchain can contribute significantly to online games, notably by bringing crypto to the in-game economies and tokenizing artifacts or heroes. It is also the driving factor behind the play-to-earn phenomenon, developing at great speed.

According to DappRadar, 880k users are playing blockchain games on a daily basis, with ~$50M worth of transactions. Many of these games, like the famous Axie Infinity, are built on Ethereum or its second layers, as well as EOS, but an increasing number choose Binance Smart Chain, or BSC, as their basis. Cryptoblades is one stunning example of a BSC-based game success: it is now played by 400k users daily, with the equivalent of $800k in transactions.

These numbers, however encouraging, are still not impressive though compared to the whole gaming industry and its millions of gamers. The technology has a long way to go, both in terms of user experience and the game quality, and the industry is determined to improve these issues. It will have the means too, as remarkable $476 Bn were raised by blockchain gaming companies since the beginning of 2021.
