Cardano to lauch student ID system in Ethiopia in autumn

Africa is the youngest continent and one of the regions with the biggest cryptoadoption rates. Its potential in terms of embracing blockchain technology and putting it to use is huge, and that’s exactly what Cardano’s founder Charles Hoskinson is trying to prove.

He recently revealed Cardano’s progress in Ethiopia, where a crypto-based student credential system is to be launched in Autumn 2021. About a million Ethiopian students are already registered within a comprehensive ID system that would include their grades, attendance, and honours, while Hoskinson hopes to get this number to 5M students later on. His ambitions go even further, from 5M student to 110M Ethiopians within a National ID system – based on Cardano, of course.

Blockchain can be of a great importance to the countries with underdeveloped infrastructures: it allows them to skip all the technological steps implemented in the developed countries and leapfrog directly to the most efficient and cheap ones. Crypto-based ID system is one such example.

The markets seem to agree with Mr Hoskinson’s vision, as Cardano price doubled (!) since the beginning of the month, reaching its all-times high of $2.6.
