As China tightens its grip on Hong Kong, the freedom of press might soon be a thing of the past there. A pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily was forced to shut down this Wednesday, prompting citizens to form lines to buy the last edition.
All is not lost though. Newspaper supporters have been uploading its old articles on blockchain-based platforms such as ARWeave, ensuring their security for the ages (it already contains over 4000 articles).
Blockchain is decentralized, which makes it censorship-resistant and a perfect tool for the freedom of speech all over the world. That’s probably one of the reasons Chinese government fears it so.
